Blackwood is run by Deaf Action in the deaf centre on Albany Street and named after deaf pioneer Alexander Blackwood. It is open to deaf and hearing people Tuesday to Saturday for breakfast and lunch, with deaf clubs, bingo and quizzes in BSL on some evenings.
